We asked the Chair of Governors and the Head Teacher how they see the relationship between the School and the community, and this is their response:

The village school is traditionally one of the key elements of a community. It is one of the amenities which should provide a point of contact for local residents, as well as a high standard of education for their children.

At our school in Kirkby Malzeard we try and involve everyone as much as we can, having connections through the Church with clergy and parishoners, with the Yorkshire in Bloom group, who help with gardening projects at school, and through the Friends of the School association, who organise events to enable social contact with parents, grand-parents and other residents, as well as raising valuable funds to support school activities. We have close links with Pre-School, who occupy a classroom within the school grounds, and are also grateful for the assistance of a number of local volunteers who help individual children develop their reading skills.
As you will see from our School website we endeavour to make school a stable environment where children can enjoy learning, and we would be delighted to have your involvement to help us continue to play our role within the Kirkby Malzeard community, into the future.
