NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

Work has now commenced on producing the Neighbourhood Plan for Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill. The Steering Group undertaking the work are currently seeking 'Initial Ideas' from the public as to what they would like to see included in the Plan prior to detailed consultation on an individual basis being carried out in early 2020. Further details can be found here: http://www.kmldpc.btck.co.uk/NEIGHBOURHOODPLAN/  If you have any expertise which you feel may be of help to the Steering Group during the process of preparing the Plan, please get in touch.

THE FORMER HENRY JENKINS PUBLIC HOUSE

The planning application made earlier in the year by the new owner of the Eastern annex (Mr Claybourn), for conversion to one dwelling (see HBC Planning website for details - case ref 18/03230/FUL) was resubmitted with additional information in August last year. A decision to refuse permission was made in May. HJCP Ltd subsequently made an application for this section to be listed as an ACV but this was unsuccessful.

A moritorium period under ACV rules on the western section ran from January to July but has now ended. Offers of £70,000 and £38,000 were made by HJCP Ltd for the western section and the eastern annex respectively but were rejected by the owners.

Further information and updates on the future of the building are available on the Henry Jenkins website:  ://www.thehenryjenkins.com/

KIRKBY'S HERITAGE BOARD

This board which was long in the planning has been funded by the Parish Council (using commuted sums money), the Friends of the AONB and Kirkby in Bloom and is now in situ on the front of the Mechanics Institute. It provides interesting information about the history of the village for residents and visitors. The artwork was commissioned from Margaret Clapperton of Smelthouses. It is possible to buy prints and greeting cards of the illustrations - Contact Pippa for details on 01765 658168.

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT, LAVERTON ROAD, KIRKBY MALZEARD

Planning Consent has been granted subject to a number of conditions - please use this link to access the documentation on the case: http://uniformonline.harrogate.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=OWY57YHYMMW00

BUS SHELTER NEAR KIRKBY STORES

Having investigated the issue of what to do about the bus shelter, it appears that it is used occasionally by school children waiting for the bus into School and the Parish Council have therefore decided to retain it and arrange for it to be upgraded, so that as well as being functional it will be a more attractive feature at that end of the village. They will be obtaining further quotes for joinery work but it is hoped that there can be a working party to carry out redecoration and possibly the addition of window boxes or similar to make it more appealing.

THE LOCAL LOTTO

Harrogate Council launched a Local Lotto in Autumn 2018 in order to raise funds for local organisations throughout the District. Kirkby Malzeard Youth Club has registered as a 'Good cause' and other organisations from this area may follow suit. You can support this fund raising initiative by buying tickets and of course you might even win a prize. For further details please go to the website: http://www.thelocallotto.co.uk/

LOCAL CRIME FIGURES

This link to the Police website gives some information about incidents in the whole of the Ripon area each month. Fortunately there is normally very little in our Parish but the fact that crime does happen regularly in the rest of the area should encourage us all to be vigilant here: http://www.police.uk/shape/q83qzk/
