THE LOCAL LOTTO

Harrogate Council have recently launched a Local Lotto in order to raise funds for local organisations throughout the District. Kirkby Malzeard Youth Club has registered as a 'Good cause' and it is likely that other organisations from this area will follow suit. You can support this fund raising initiative by buying tickets and of course you might even win a prize. For further details please go to the website: http://www.thelocallotto.co.uk/

IN-BLOOM JUDGING

This took place as planned on Friday 20 July. The judges, John Stanley and Denise Wherrett, were experienced in Bloom judges, and took a very informed interest in
everything we showed them.

The village looked splendid. Thank you so much to everyone who took time to make
everything look its best. The results will be known in September. Meanwhile, everyone
can enjoy our lovely village.Thank you!

PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT, LAVERTON ROAD, KIRKBY MALZEARD

If you wish to view the information currently available on this application on the HBC Planning Dept website click here: http://uniformonline.harrogate.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=OWY57YHYMMW00

There has been an amendment recently to the proposals with the number of houses reduced from 'up to 47 houses' to 'up to 37 houses' so if you have any comments you wish to make on this you can currently send in additional responses to the Planning Department.

LOCAL CRIME FIGURES

This link to the Police website gives some information about incidents in the whole of the Ripon area each month. Fortunately there is normally very little in our Parish but the fact that crime does happen regularly in the rest of the area should encourage us all to be vigilant here: http://www.police.uk/shape/q83qzk/

THE FORMER HENRY JENKINS PUBLIC HOUSE

The planning application made by the new owner of the East section (Mr Claybourn), for conversion to one dwelling (see HBC Planning website for details - case ref 18/01087/FUL) has been refused. Harrogate Council have however decided to lift the ACV listing from that section of the property having reviewed the matter following the sale.

The HJCC are still undertaking their Opinion Survey to determine support for their proposals within the wider community and to ascertain the willingness of residents to pledge financial assistance in purchasing and renovating the building but it is unlikely that the final results will be known for some time as only approximately 70% of the responses have so far been obtained. Anyone not completing and returning the form is seen as being neutral.

Further information and updates are available on the Henry Jenkins website:  ://www.thehenryjenkins.com/

BIN COLLECTION DATES - BANK HOLIDAYS 2018
