KIRKBY IN BLOOM

JOIN IN!

Every villager is welcome to join our Kirkby in Bloom group and to help in away way you can. We aim to help Kirkby Malzeard be an attractive and wildlife friendly place to live. We hold regular meetings, village tidies and litter sweeps, social occasions and garden visits. We help look after the Jubilee Rose Garden and many of the benches, troughs and tubs around the village. We garden with the children at the village school. We fund raise to buy plants and for other expenses.

Thank you to everyone who helped with our village tidy in October  - the village looked very smart afterwards! Our Next event is our January Coffee morning -

KIRKBY IN BLOOM’S ANNUAL COFFEE MORNING

SATURDAY 11 JANUARY 10.30 - 12 noon in the Mechanics’ Institute.

Everyone is welcome to join us for tea and coffee and to browse our range of stalls.  We are planning a warm social occasion for the depths of January and to raise funds to help Kirkby look great in the year ahead. Raffle, book stall, bric-a-brac, cakes, potted bulbs and a “surprise-surprise” stall!

See you there!

KIRKBY'S HERITAGE BOARD

Find this on the front of Mechanic's Institute. A major Kirkby in Bloom project,  this was funded by the Parish Council, the Friends of the AONB and Kirkby in Bloom's own fund raising.  The board provides some interesting information about the history of the village for residents and visitors. The artwork was commissioned from Margaret Clapperton of Smelthouses. It is possible to buy prints and greeting cards of the illustrations - Contact Pippa for details on 01765 658168.

SCHOOL GARDEN

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent fund raising efforts for the new school vegetable garden. The beds are now in place and we are helping the school with the next stages of development.

YORKSHIRE IN BLOOM

Kirkby Malzeard first entered the annual Yorkshire in Bloom competition in 1989 and has entered  most years since. We  were awarded Gold (the highest award)  in 2015, 2016, and 2017 and in 2016 we also won "Best in Category" (for a medium sized village).

Currently we are not entering Yorkshire in Bloom in order to concentrate on village priorities.

We are very grateful for all the support we have in the village. We welcome you to join our group. Please contact Pippa Manson on 658168 for more information.
