TOUR DE YORKSHIRE COMMITTEE - Meeting to co-ordinate events around the T de Y race passing through Kirkby Malzeard and Laverton - 7pm in the Mechanics Annex - anyone who wishes to be involved can attend. Contact Howard on 658838 for further details.

WOMEN'S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - This annual event is being held at the Methodist Chapel in Kirkby today starting at 2pm. Refreshments served.

MUSIC CLUB - The Mechanics Institute is the venue for this monthly event - bar opens 7.30pm with performances kicking off at 8pm - £2 entry with Under 13's free. Pop along to listen or even better join in!

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE - Kirkby Malzeard WI meets tonight at 7.15pm in the Mechanics Institute to hear a talk from Anne Cherry about Harrogate Theatre.

COFFEE MORNING - the monthly coffee morning will be held today at the Methodist Chapel in Kirkby Malzeard - tea/coffee and toast/home-made buscuits available from 10am to 12noon. Everyone welcome.

SUNDAY MARCH 18

CROCUS WALK -The annual Crocus Walk will be held today starting from Highside Pavilion at 1pm. The route will be approximately 5 miles with a drinks stop en route and refreshments served at the pavilion at the end of the Walk. There is also a shorter walk (approx 3 miles) if you don't want to get too carried away! Donations on the day please to ‘Breast Cancer Now’ (was Breakthrough Breast Cancer but has been amalgamated with other Breast Cancer Charities) and Kirkby Malzeard primary school.

HIGHSIDE SINGERS CONCERT - The Kirkby Malzeard Choir are playing a concert tonight with Summerbridge and Dacre Silver Band at Grantley village hall starting at 7.30pm. Tickets £7.50 from Choir and Band members or by phoning 01765 620235 or 658401.

MUSIC CLUB - The Mechanics Institute Friday night music club takes place in the main Hall starting at 8pm. Everyone welcome to come along and play or sing - any genre, solo, group - or just come and listen. £2 entry. (under 13's free) Bar opens 7.30pm

DALLOWGILL LOCAL HISTORY GROUP - the Group will be meeting today at 3pm at Greygarth Chapel. Patrice will be explaining the research which she has carried out on her property Bents House and showing how you can find out about yours using the resources which the group has put together.

FLOWER DEMONSTRATION - Bob Forbes of Oasis (the florists not the band!) is presenting a fund raising flower arranging demonstration entitled the 'Cycle of Life in Yorkshire' tonight at St Andrews Church starting 7pm. KIRKBY PLAYERS - our local dramatic group will be performing two short plays each evening - full details to follow.

SATURDAY APRIL 21

PARISH MEETING EXHIBITION- The annual Parish Meeting is normally held immediately prior to the Parish Council's April meeting and consists of local organisation reading out statements about what they have achieved last year and what they will be doing next year. As it is usually poorly attended an exhibition is to be held for the first time this year from 10.00 am to 12 noon in the Main Hall of the Mechanics Institute. Coffee and biscuits will be served and representatives of local organisations will all be present to hand out a written statement of their activities and to talk to anyone interested in finding out more. Whilst the official Parish Meeting will still take place before the main Parish Council meeting on April 30, in case any one wishes to raise any general points about the Parish, this will much briefer than previous years. There will also be an update on events being held in conjunction with the Tour de Yorkshire at the Saturday morning exhibition. Please try and come along. 

MONDAY APRIL 30

PARISH COUNCIL- The monthly Parish Council takes place this evening in the annex of the Mechanics Institute - it will be the final meeting for this Council before the elections on May 3. It will commence once the Annual Parish Meeting has been held which takes place at 7.15pm, but no earlier than 7.20pm.

ELECTIONS - Votes will be cast today to select local Parish Councillors and for the Harrogate Borough Ward Councillor for the next four years.

SATURDAY MAY 26

DALLOWGILL WALK - The annual walk through Dallowgill is a little later this year but will follow a route of about 5 miles through the countryside and end up with Tea at Greygarth Chapel. Registration is at 1pm with the walk commencing at 1.30pm. Full details to follow.
